Everytime I turn the steering wheel past 3 o'clock to park or u-turn, the engine rpms drop suddenly and more often than not the engine cuts off. I have power steering fluid, so what is the problem?

I understand your note about the power steering fluid and your assumption, but this should have nothing to do with the steering.

Help us out with a little bit more information. 1987 Honda Accord __ miles_______ Transmission_____

In order to fully answer these are quite helpful.

Sorry I wasn't more clear. My car is an 87 Accord Lx, with 115,000 miles on it, auto transmission, and just received a major tune-up a month ago. The engine idle problem is quirky, when the car is cold it idle's extremely high, when I brake at a light, at the exact moment that my momentum is halted, the idle drops precariously, and whenever I turn the wheel too far it dies, and I can also feel resistance and sometimes a low humming sound, which made me think it had to do with the steering since it sounds like it is rubbing against something and the engine's idle cannot compensate for the extra resistance. Hopefully you can help me, I can't drive the car confidently for fear it will break down.

Take off the belt on the power steering and turn the pump by hand. Is it difficult to turn or easy. Difficult the bearing is seizing, easy and it should be normal. Try all of the belt driven devices on the car.
