I have a Holden Astra. Recently a problem showed up. My engine rpm goes way too high with low speed on road. Eats up fuel really a lot. Car starts vibrating. I have recently changed the timing belt. And I I have checked the computer codes. (No codes displayed). 161,000 km's running petrol unleaded. Why is it happening and any solution please?

Re-check valve timing, check fuel pressure, and see if pressure increases with vacuum line off fuel pressure regulator, start here.

Can you check the fuel pressure, with the engine running and a fuel pressure gauge fitted, when you remove the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator normally fitted at the end of the fuel rail on the engine, the fuel pressure should increase.

Okay thank you. I have recently changed my transmission oil too. The gear does not shift to next gear. It holds the gear and rpm's go to 3 to 4.
