If I turn the heat on max after 10 or so minutes the car fills with the burning plastic smell. It smells under the hood in the car out of the car and there is no plastic bag under the car no leaks that I am aware of. What could be wrong with it?

Good afternoon.

It could be something is in the duct work that is giving off the smell when it is hot.

Do you see any smoke from this?

Hello, to answer your question I do not believe I have seen any smoke yet. Although today I thought I caught a glimpse of smoke coming from the right side of the car but it was minimum amount.

You need to have someone look at this ASAP. Smoke is no good. It may indicate something is burning and you do not want a fire in the car.

I cannot give you an answer here due to I cannot see it or touch it.

Get someone to check it for you.

I have got in touch with a mechanic and they said something about maybe needing a replacement blower motor. Does that sound reasonable?

Also, looking under the hood there was no sight of smoke or fire or melting. Another thing quick, is that it only smells like this occasionally it comes and goes when I drive and depending on how high the heat is that affects the smell.

If that was the case, it would have done it with the AC system operating.

Does it do it with the AC operating?

Then it has nothing to do with the blower motor.
