Would a sealant be helpful for a blown head gasket? Don’t have money for a mechanic to repair.

Hello,

I would recommend against this, but if it is the only repair attempt possible the only product I would recommend using would be Blue Devil, which is available at any auto parts store. It is a little more expensive, but I have personally heard more than one testimonial that this product actually works. I would follow the directions on the bottle to a "T". Please get back to us with how everything turns out.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello and welcome to 2CarPros. As SCWICKEDSTANG stated on his post, the blue devil would be as an emergency and yes, follow every step on that bottle and do not plan on any long distant drives.

I had a customer with a Toyota Celica. I drained the cooling system and removed the thermostat. Added water with the blue devil and let the vehicle idle for an hour. After I drained the cooling system again and removed the the thermostat housing and lower hose and let it dry for 2 days. After installed a new thermostat and new radiator cap and filled with 50/50 coolant mixture. He drove that car good for a year until he decided to drive up the grape vine where it finally failed.
