My son ran the gas out, he put gas in it now it wont start. Been trying for days to get it started. Only transportation I have. What could be the problem? Had the fuel pump checked, it is still working.

So how did you make sure the fuel pump is working properly? Did you measure the fuel pressure? Because I would suspect a bad fuel pump from what was said happened.

A mechanic checked it for me. He said it was working just fine. We tried starting it again and it sounds like it wants to start.

The only thing that really makes sense is the fuel pump is old and got really hot from running out of gas and failed. So what did the mechanic do to check the pump? Just listen to hear if it was running? Have you tried spraying some carburetor spray into the intake to see if it starts and runs a little bit off if that? Also, have you tried cranking it start it while smacking the center of the gas tank with your hand to see if it starts? Also, has the computer been checked for codes? I would think the mechanic would have checked that? Also what did the mechanic think it might be?
