Have replaced distributor, plugs, plug wires, battery, fuel filters. Fuel pressure checked out correct. Still have to crank engine repeatedly. Sometimes fifteen or more "cranks". When key is turned fuel pump engages each time but then tone of "whine"will change (very subtle) will then start on next attempt. Runs fine after finally get started but sometimes will start better rest of the day sometimes have to go through all of the above each time it starts. Think it is the fuel pump even though the pressure checked out?

Good afternoon,

What is the exact fuel pressure and when you turn the key off, what does the pressure go down to?

You may have a bad check valve in the fuel pump and losing all the pressure. Then you have to prime the system to start it.

Sorry for slow reply. It has been couple of months since I had a reading on fuel pressure (been dealing with this problem for six months) so cant remember. I just know at that time it was within expected spec, however don't think we watched it after key was turned off so will look at that. Thanks
