So, in traffic we all came to a sudden stop where I had to press on my brakes hard. The traffic started moving right after, however when pressing the gas pedal, the vehicle would not move, but I did hear the engine rev. I started to freak out because traffic was moving, and I couldn’t move. I had to put the vehicle in park and then to drive. No engine light came on and went about my day. I’ve had new brakes and rotors done about 3 months ago. I’ve also noticed that if I drive over a speed bump, and I don’t go super, super slow, the same thing happens, I brake to almost a stop, go over, and the tires land and the vehicle on its own proceeds to move forward... I press on gas pedal to get the other two tires moving over the speed bump, I get the same thing, shift to park then drive. Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks

This is common when the TCM goes out, and the fact that you need to reset the gears to make it work is pointing to a bad TCM as well, but to be sure let's run a CAN scan. You can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) which will work on most cars from Amazon.

Here is a video to show you how:

If a code comes up for it here is how to change it out. Check out the images (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem so we can see what's going on.
