Heater/ac fan motor
Heater problem
1998 GMC Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 145325 miles
I have recently replaced the heater/ac fan motor in my 1998 GMC K1500. The original motor quit working but before it did it made a sqeeling noise and would quit blowing. Since I changed the fan motor, it will only work on high. None of the other fan speeds will work. No blown fuses. Can you tell me what is wrong or what has happened and how to fix the problem? I have tried a different fan control switch and that didn't help.

It can be frustrating to replace a part only to learn that it doesn't completely fix the problem. If the fan is only running at high speed and no low speeds, it means that that your blower motor resistor is bad. It is located on the blower motor housing. PN 158788 $13.80 from rockauto.com
