Consuming oil

1992 GMC Sierra 5.7 145000k Oil empties on 700k. Last 6 months or so. Not a lot, if any, blue smoke. Blows oily water mixture out of tailpipe on start. I can see it for 50ft or so on start. No leaks evident on driveway. The engine seens to work smooth enough (Same as always) I live in the north so it is very cold -30c. Any suggestions? :(

Check the coolant level and fill it. Then with the engine warm and running crack open the bleeder on the top radiator hose and let out air from the system. Careful it should be hot.
