At 103000 the dealer told me that I have to replace the pan because the threads in the pan are no good. They said its more common in newer vechicles. Are they putting me full of things or what?

Hi there,

This does happen, but normally when someone overtightened or cross threads the plug, this is no more common on newer cars than older cars. You can normally re thread or over size the sump plug I would look into this rather than the expense of a new sump.
