1991 Other GMC Models cant get clutch to work.
Transmission problem
1991 Other GMC Models 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 240,00 miles
Lost clutch @ stop sign. Resevoir was low. Filling it didnt help. I assumed failed master or slave. Had a long drive coming up, so I replaced both. Bled both of them every way I could think of, although I havent been able to get ahold of a power bleeder. I seem to have excessive free play, (more than when it worked) No pressure till pedal is halfway down. Watching through the inspection hole, I measure a 1/2" of travel on the slave rod. Should this be enough to disengage the clutch?

you'll have to check to see if the release arm has bent or the release bearing has gone through the pressure plate. If you are getting 1/2" of travel that should be enough. Cehck the release arm especially if it is a stamped piece.
