will a car run just fine without new front end ball joints? How hgh on the priority list would getting it replaced be and is is an exensive repair?

Depends on which ones you need. If ti needs them all your are looking at a few hundred dollars, and when they fail, the wheel will break free of the suspension andcause you to lose control of the truck, so yes they are pretty high on the list
