2004 GMC Envoy 6 cyl All Wheel Drive 35088 miles

Hi 2Carpros,

I have a few different questions:

1. My wifes '04 Envoy shakes from about 10-45mph. Once the SUV reaches about 45-45mph the shaking subsides. What is causing this to happen and how do I get it fixed?

2. My wifes '04 Envoy speedometer and odometer have started sticking. Sometimes they work but more often than none they stick. Either both at the same time or individually at different times. What causes this and how do I get it fixed?

3. My wife and I have two vehicles: 2004 Envoy XL, and a 2006 Nissan Altima. Both vehicles have extremely low mileage on them (especially the Envoy with only about 35000 miles), mainly because we're a military family and the duty station we are located at has a fairly small city so long distance travel doesn't happen too often. My final question is how often should a vehicle receive a tune-up?

1: The shaking in that speed raznge could be a result of tire balance, or the tires themselves. I would recommend a balance be performed with a load force measurement to detect tire irregularities. This is a special feature of some balancers.

2: If the needles are sticking, it can be an indication of failing stepper motors internal to the cluster. The cluster is usually replaced to correct, the replacement would need programmed.

3:As far as tune-up, there is not much to a tune-up any more. The spark plugs are rated to 100-150k miles, and other than fuel/air filters and PCV valve(if applicable), there is not much replaceable. The only additional services may be periodic injector cleaning. In terms of time/mileage, 50 and 100k unless problems occur.
