Consumes too much gasoline

GLI model. The mechanic adjust the screw on top of the engine after tune up but then it consumes too much gasoline and the engines seems to loss power when accelerates. Does this adjustment screw affect the engine performance and if it is, how to correct it. Thanks.

There is no 1996 Lancer model and what engine size. we do not know what screw you are talking about scan for codes and check fuel pressure with a gauge to start auto parts rent it. See link.
