1995 Geo Prizm No power in gear. Idles fine

Engine Performance problem
1995 Geo Prizm 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Engine starts immediately. Idles fine. Revs up quickly with no miss in park. Put car in drive and have to feather the gas pedal to get it to move. This was a sudden problem. Ran fine, then didn't. It is not driveable at all, as it has no power in gear.

Most likely a trans problem or differential.

Check the trans fluid level in park, engine running.

If OK, then you will have to check the differential, the plug is in rear of transaxle near firewall. Remove the plug, fluid (ATF) should be near hole. If no fluid, it is possible the differential fluid has leaked out axle seals and differential has partially siezed.
