Gear shifting

The problem is finding and shifting into fourth gear and after driving for a while, sometimes reverse, have not tried anything myself as I know little about cars.
Drives pretty well other than that. Is supposed to locate fourth gear at around 80 kmh but keeps going to 100 kmh without finding it and rpms sit between 2500-3000 rpms. Thanks

I would start with making sure that the oil level is correct, just to clarify one point, are we talking about an Australian built FG Falcon?

You do need to check at normal operating temp, running in Park, the oil should just drip out the side plug, is this how you checked the trans oil?
