Fordwindstar problems

We have a 1998 fordwindstar. The speedometer flies all over or remains at 0 and the engine revs then it runs oks now the check engine lite comes on. We had the guvernor something or other replaced, were told it wasn't a transmission problem. What gives?

Try unhooking the negative battery terminal for about 10 minutes then hooking it back up. Sometimes if a problem is fixed and the computer isnt reset(unhooking the batt) things just dont wanna work right
