Hi,
i am the semi-proud owner of a 1996 Ford Thunderbird. This noise problem is pertaining to a loud and very noticeable squeak on the drivers side only in the front wheel area. Whenever the car hits a bump or I turn a very loud squeak/ grinding can be heard. It happens no matter how fast or slow I go or any size bump whatsoever. The noise happens whenever the steering wheel is moved but as far as I can tell its only on the one side. What could the problem be?

I would really be checking to see if the ball joints are bad, they will make the noises you have described.

To check them, jack up vehicle and remove the weight from the ball joints.

Next try and lift the tire up with a prybar, if the vehicle's tire goes up and play is noted at the balljoint it is bad.

Also if it has grease fittings there should be a collar around it, if its flat or indented from the surounding area it needs replacing.
