1994 Ford Thunderbird 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Is there a simpler procedure to torque 3.8 ltr. V-6 heads in a 94 Thunderbird than what Chiltons manual instructs. Using this method I can't get a true seal of the heads and end up with water in the #2 cylinder and car running hot with no compression.

Bigger picture of what?

Which number? The numbers to the right is in foot pounds then the paranthesis is in Nm measurements. So its like 8 foot pounds OR? Nm. Whichever your wrench has on it.
