Are we talking about the switch, or the key tumbler? This is for the lock.
Removal (Except Escort, Mustang, Probe & Tracer) 1. Disconnect battery ground cable. On Cougar and Thunderbird with tilt steering wheel, remove upper extension shroud by unsnapping shroud from retaining clip at 9-o'clock position. 2. Remove upper and lower column shroud halves. Disconnect key warning switch electrical connector. On all models, turn lock cylinder to RUN position. On Cougar and Thunderbird, locate small hole in casting below lock cylinder. 3. On all models except Cougar and Thunderbird, locate hole in shroud under lock cylinder. On all models, insert a 1/8" drill bit or punch into hole. Press lock cylinder retaining pin while pulling lock cylinder out of housing. Page 1 of 1 STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES -1992 Ford Tempo GL 2/28/2009
Installation 1. Turn lock cylinder to RUN position. Press retaining pin, and insert lock cylinder into housing. Ensure lock cylinder is fully seated and aligned with interlocking washer. 2. Turn lock cylinder to OFF position. This allows retaining pin to extend into hole in housing. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure.
