Won't shift into park

I have a 1995 taurus with a 3.8 v6. The shifter started getting sloppy between park and reverse. Now I can't get the shifter into park at all. All I have is forward, reverse and neutral. Is it just an adjustment problem?

Check the cable physically for damage. Also look under dash on top of column at the shifter assembly on column to see if it broke or bolts fell out due to being loose
