My 2003 Ford Taurus,3.0L, 24V DOHC, 88,000 miles, had a flashing engine light. Towed home and found water in the spark plug tube. Dried it and replaced wires and plugs. Then found DPFE was melted. Replaced it but continued to blow off the sensor hoses. Thought possibly EGR valve or solenoid but both check OK. Last option was to replace the rear Cat Converter, as my wife had driven the car to the gas station with it misfiring before it was towed home. Thought the fuel overload in the cat probably contaminated it. After all was replaced, no engine light for two days but now I am getting P1400 code on ECM. Any suggestions on what to try next?

Well P1400 is the egr position sensor, you said the lines were blowing off? Have you solved that? When the MIL is flashing it means you are or could be damaging the converter! If the car runs, attach a vacuum gauge to manifold vacuum, watch it for 2-3 minutes, if the gauge drops, the exhaust has a restriction, maybe converter chunks stuck in a pipe or muffler...Too much backpressure may cause the tubes to blow off the sensor!
