Electrical problem
1998 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My wife and I own a 1998 Ford Taurus and we recently replaced the transmission as it was needed. From there we have had problems with the car starting. We have now changed the battery at least 3 times since then. The problem at hand would be that it has power to the battery as the windows and lights and everything else works just fine, but when we go to start it, it makes a clicking sound. It runs fine after being jumped but then when its parked again and shut off, it doesn't want to start. There are times though it does decide to start and will do so for a day or two, but starts doing this all over again.

I need you to check a couple things.

First, make sure the ground wire from the battery to the engine block is tight, clean, and making good contact. If that is ok, when you get the clicking, I need you to check for power to the smaller wire on the starter. Have a helper turn the key to start (when it clicks) and check to see if you are getting 12 volts to the smaller wire. Please be careful just incase it decides to start. Keep away from any potential moving parts.

Let me know what you find.
