I have a 97 Taurus GL. The interior lights on the doors and dome have never worked since ive owned the car, which hasent been long. Now if the car is in park or neutral everything is good, now if you put it in gear "drive or reverse" the radio shuts off, the power windows stop working, and the door open light comes on. Switch it back in to Park or Neutral and everything works again. Sometimes the power steering also stops working in drive and reverse. Is this some type of sensor?

check the B/PK wire from the transmission range sensor to the instrument cluster/ to the back lights/ to remote anti-theft.
the problem is the wirring , not the sensor.
