1994 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 164000 miles

About 2 years ago l noticed a grinding sound upon turning wheels. Mechanics couldn't hear anything. Now l am starting to hear the sound as wheels rotate on straight driving at slower speed. 12 mphr. Not constant, but touches as wheel turns. Reminds me of the tire hitting the fender in the old days. What could l get checked?

94 Ford Taurus 6 cylinder 3.0 engine.
Noise started couple of years ago upon turning car. Scraping sound. No mechanic could firgure out why. This was shortly after having brakes done in rear. Now it is a scrape, l think right rear, as the tire rotates at slow speed, about 12 mphr. L am an old lady and have no regular mechanic now, having moved here one year ago. Reminds me of the older cars when a fender was rubbing against the tire. Who, what type of place should l go to to get it checked? Lf l go to a brake place, they will want to work on the brakes.

Might want to ask around for a referral to a good mechanic in the area. Could be a wheel bearing. When you turn th ewheels it changes the load on the rears, this will make a bad bearing louder or quieter
