In regards to my Ford Taurus starting problem toaday, why would it run just fine earlier this afternoon, and then after doing some visual checking of wiring and clamps, etc., for the upcoming winter weather, then it does not start at all, just cranks over.
It almost seems as if the spark was lost or could it just the the timing belt that quick.

I await your answer

Could be either a lack of sparks, fuel, or compression.
Check for sparks with a tester (or by removing a wire from a spark plug and holding the boot close to a metal part on your engine and check for spark while someone is cranking the engine; if you do that, be careful not to get zapped...).
Check your fuel pressure.
Check your compression.

If your timing belt broke, you would likely notice it when you crank the car; it would crank unusually fast.

When you find out what's missing, we can start figuring out what the problem may be.
