2002 Ford Ranger starting

I bought a 2002 ford ranger last january and had a pump replaced last march now when try to start it the will not run it just cranks until i cycle the the key 5-6 times then it will start and run for a second then die again

Might have been a cheap pump...

The key part of your question was cycling the key 5-6 times, this will build fuel pressure, the fuel pump relay is energized for 2-3 seconds each time you do that, so it is building pressure. Did you test it? Also you could test for spark, but if it will run briefly, I think it's fuel related...
