I am getting codes P0460 and P0461 and CEL is lit. When cleared, these codes return a short time later, generally within 30 - 100 miles.

Fuel gauge is working fine.

What could be the causes?

You're right. They both deal with the fuel gauge. Have you ever noticed any variation in the gauge, even for a split second? If it is working correctly, the only thing I can think of is a short or bad ground that the computer is picking up on but is not bad enough to hinder the gauge's performance.

Let me know.
Joe

Thanks for the response. I have noticed a couple of times the gas gauge varying by say 1/8th tank over a minute or two time, not coinciding with braking/accelerating or the incline of the truck. That did not seem normal.

I think you have too much resistance on one of the wires going to the gauge. As a result, this is happening. The hard part is to track it down. You will need to check for continunity while wiggling or moving the wire to see if it changes the resistance.

Let me know what you find.
