Engine code system lean

I have a 1997 ford ranger with a 2.3 liter 4cyl.
the check engine light is on and I am getting a system lean code. What could this be. Where should I start

Damn paul I have created monsters, there are others who have similar sigs now lol sent chris a pm about the article it looks great, I asked him if he would consider adding the 3.8 intakes and lower intake bushings
