2001 Ford Ranger Running Rough

When l begin to gain speed and the truck gets to around 3000 rpm's it starts to sputter. Do you think this could be a fuel filter? L have just put new plug wires and plugs on this vehicle. Also my check engine light is on.

If the check engine light has come on, I need you to take it to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for codes. Most will do it for free. Let me know what codes they find.
