1998 Ford Ranger 4 Wheel drive wont engage

Transmission problem
1998 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 94000 miles

I just bought a ford ranger 4 wd today from a dealer. When I test drove it, everything worked. I went to take my wife for a drive and the 4 wheel drive lights (low and high) kept flashing as I drove. I stopped and attempted to put the car in 4 wd and it would not engage. Please help me.

It sounds like you have the same type of luck as I do. Have you checked for power to the actuator on the transfer case? (can you hear the actuator shifting when you select 4wd?) Also, check the vacuum hoses going to the front axle near the hub assembly. Make sure they're in good condition and not damaged.

Since you just got the truck, won't the dealer help you with this?
