1997 Ford Ranger Temp Control Does Nothing

My sons Ranger always puts out heat no matter where the temp selector control is unless it is in MAX A/C.

Ford wants a thousand dollars to look at it.

Ok this is probably the blend door or more likely the blend door motor. Here is a pic of the blend door motor. If you have a digital multi meter we can test it to make sure it is bad. These are available at most parts stores.
