I have a 1992 ford ranger that I recently bought. It had been getting hot while driving stoplight to stoplight but does pretty good while driving on the freeway. I had the fan replaced because it was stuck on the shroud and a new radiator, thermostat, and belt. It does a lot better now and cools down after I get up to speed but still gets hot at stoplights. The next thing im thinking about replacing is the water pump. What could be the problem for this?

Id definetely check into the water pump. Since you havea new fan on and a new shroud and radiator I dont see what else would be causing it other then your vehicle may be running lean or the timing may be off.

You could buy an aftermarket electric fan system. It wont load the engine as much and will cool more efficently
