1983 Ford Ranger oil

My 83 ranger is a one owner, it has 88,000 miles. Has set in garage for several years started every week but not driven. It does not smoke until I reaklly rev it up. No leaks, but goes through a quart every 100 miles. Rings, valve seats, please help

Hi there,

if you are able to drive the car on the road, give it a engine service and take it for a good drive. Then see how it pulls up. The trouble with engines not run under load and often enough to get up to operating temp is that seals start to fail & piston rings can loose there tension.
