My son's Mustang's engine has been completely cutting off while driving. The brakes and steering completely lock up like the key was turned off. Why is this happening?

The brakes and steering get hard when the engine stalls because you have power brakes and power steering. The engine assists these systems, so when the engine is off, there is no vacuum for the brakes and no power steering.

Why the engine is stalling is very hard to tell without a few questions answered.

Does it start right back up? If not, how long does it take to start up? Are there any check engine lights on?

Thanks for getting back to me. We found out there is a hole in the radiator so the engine was over heating and shutting off. Thanks for trying to help
