I am 17 and looking for a mustang to have as my own and found a 2000 mustang for sale for $2,000 - $2,500. Here is what the guy says:

needs driver side exhaust manifold, and a lil tranny work. its got a slight hessitation when i take off, but only once in a while. also need to play with the shifter to get it in park. it is an automatic. with 160,000 miles. need to sell, best off will be accepted, will also travel to help with sale. my brother installed my tranny and i think when he did he didnt get the shifer linkage right, so when the shifter says is in "p" is really not, its gotta be down in "n" to be in park... its not a terrible problem just a pain in the ass i supose. as for hesitation, im told its more than likey the transmission, but it hasnt done it for about 2 months.

I would like to know first off if what it will take to fix the car will be expensive and if i could do it myself.

I know this isnt a "is this a good deal" site but im going to ask that question anyway because i dont know a whole lot about cars. So is this a good deal.

It looks nice. However, it's hard for me to say what is causing all the problems. As far as the exhaust manifold, the bolts may break requiring the head to be removed. If the trans needs rebuilt, it could easily be over 2000.00. Offer him a grand for it. Explain that you don't know what you are going to need to repair it and it could get expensive.
