1989 Ford Mustang Manual 133, 00 miles

my husband put his battery in backwards in his 89 mustang 5.0-
He done put a new altanator in and when he goes to jump it off the car will start with no problem. But once we take off the jumper cables it will run for a minutes then shut off. And we've switched the batteries. Someone has told us it could be a fuse.

There are inline fuses running from the battery (driver side) to the starter solenoid, I beleive its a yellow wire (dont quote me on that), but any way find the inline fuses hooked up to the solenoid and there are a few in the wireing harness also and grab either end of the wire and give it a lil tug, if they are blown (which is probably your case) then the wire will pull out of the fuse
