Please note, the answers for wheel drive type and engine size have been guessed from the options I had. Lately, I have noticed that when I turn my steering wheel left or right, and when moving as well as when stationary, I hear a slight scraping sound, like the plastic of the steering wheel unit is rubbing against something. What could be causing this as it's only recently happened and is it a big (expensive) job to repair?

Hi ya, im not a mechanic but have had lots of cars with various problems and your problem sounds familiar, it will be worth checking your power steering fluid level (providing your car has power steering?)As if level is low you will get a noise and/or vibration on full lock to either left or right, if its not a power steering version then just have a look behind the wheels, making sure it looks the same either side incase your inner wheel arch (the plastic cover behind and above the wheels) has become loose, sometimes in the past I have saved myself pounds by having a good look around any suspect noises/vibrations, its always worth a look, anyway just thought id mention this to you as you never know, good luck with your car.
