Engine Performance problem
2000 Ford Focus Automatic

My check engine light has been on for a while, and I have no idea what's wrong with it and would like to have an idea of what's wrong with it before I take it in to get fixed. So maybe you can help me out. When I drive, it rattles and shakes and makes an awful noise, it kinda stops when I get to 45 mph, and not really for long, and not very often. It pretty much rattles and makes a loud noise the entire time I'm driving. When I stop, it acts like it about to die. My lights flicker and sometimes it even does turn off while I'm stopped, and it shudders and shakes the whole time I'm stopped. So maybe you have an idea?

First thing you need to do is to take your car to autozone or o'reilly and have it scanned for trouble codes. They will do it for free. Once you have the codes, come back with them and we'll start from there.
