Engine Mechanical problem
2002 Ford F350 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 85,000 miles

Our truck is a 7.5 liter diesel. When we come to a stop the engine dies periodically. It starts up again with no problem. The cam sensor had been changed twice by the dealer. The dealer has run diognostics and does not find anything even though they experienced the engine stopping. His suggestion is to drive until it won't start then have it towed in. It not our favorite answer. Any suggestions?

Went through the same thing awhile back. This is what mine was doing. If it acted up at low speeds(traffic) it would shut off, then start right up. If it acted up while driving down the hwy, it would "hickup" bad enough where it would scare the mess out of you. It never threw a single code!

Changed the cam sensor with one from O'Reillys. Went 3 months without a problem. Then all the sudden, it started doing the same thing again. Only this time it was giving me a cam sensor code.

This time I learned a secret from the diehard diesel guys. Get your cam sensor from a International dealer(for $23)! Thats who makes the engines for Ford to begin with. Anyway, thats been about a year ago and it hasn't acted up yet! (Knock on wood) ;)
