2002 Ford F150 rust out

2002 Ford F150 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 150,00 miles

I love this truck and have had great service since new. I recently did an oil change and saw some heavy rust out where the body bolts to the frame, under the radiator. It is sheet metal and is pretty bad, my question is, is this a common problem? I live in Florida so I can't blame road salt. thanks for your time.....

boy do they rust out, one of the most common placces. could have coolant leaking from a hose or the radiator on a chip in the paint and thats where it starts, or even water sitting there over time will do that. you can cut it and and have a new one welded in.
