2001 Ford F150 oil leak

i noticed oil on bell housing and starter passenger side i have had a loss of mileage and performance no oil in water no water in oil ,coughs and stumbles at lower speed?do you think its a head gasket

hi billymac here.no not likely a head gasket.most likely valve cover gasket.their is a slight possibility of a head gasket prob,but i doubt it.because all head gasket probs with the exception of the powerstroke and tritons are associated with coolant probs.as far as performance and mileage.possibly fuel filter or major tune up.hope this helps billymac
