The truck had a check engine code for EVAP leak and I replaced the gas cap and purge valve. When I cleared the code it threw 12 codes would there be a reason for that? Some of the codes I can remember off the top of my head were camshaft, o2 sensors, EVAP purge valve, evap leak, torque converter, solenoid a, and shift solenoid.

Read this guide to get the codes

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

This video will help you clear the codes

https://youtu.be/ahK_eucFi-k

All of the codes that you received have one thing in common, fuse number twenty-three in the engine compartment fuse box. More than likely it will be blown and on more than a handful of occasions I have found the wire harness rubbing against the EGR pipe on the passenger side causing a ground short of this circuit. Another common cause is the cam sensor/synchronizer failure causing a ground short also. The bushings in the synchronizer give out and will give you the tell tale "chirp" which will lead to the sensor being impacted by the synchronizer. Last but not least, general wire rubs through at the oxygen sensor harness against the exhaust, a good visual inspection is usually the quickest way to check this. I've attached some wire diagrams of this circuit and the fuse that powers it, also the fuse location.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

There is a noise that seems to come from my gearbox. It's fine when in 1st or in 5th, but anywhere in between it sounds like something is rattling. Steering and shifting don't seem to be affected. While driving the service engine light has also now come on. The noise has been noticeable for about 2-3 days. Need to have the codes pulled, but the service engine light sporadically comes on, and nothing turns up being a problem.

The only way that I know to determine the problem is to have the computer scanned when the light is on. Have any other lights come on such as ABS?

With no code, there must be a probem internal. If I had to guess, I would say a clutch pack may be coming apart. If it was a sensor or trans control module, it would be giving you other problems. Are you certain it is coming from the transmission?

this morning i ran through a flooded street in the dark. afterwards my engine was running rough like it was missing. after that, everytime i start engine, it runs smooth for about 30 seconds and then starts running really rough. then, later in the day, my check engine l;ight came on. engine seems to really be sucking the fuel now.

You probably have an oxygen sensor problem. Before the oxygen sensors begin working, (open loop), the engine does not allow any input from the oxygen sensors. Until the engine is hot enough it stays in a closed loop. Temperature affects emmissions.

Since yours is good in closed loop and the o2 sensors and their wiring were watered down with your adventure, the problem starts perhaps in open loop.

Check the codes and go after the codes it shows.

Hi,

I was having some engine hesitation when accelerating the other day. The service engine soon light came on, and the light panel over the radio began flickering between off, dim, and normal. I got the truck home.

The next morning the truck wouldn't start at all. There is no attempt to start -- no clicking. I've tested the battery and everything is okay.

Any ideas of what could be wrong?--starter, solenoid, relay switch, alternator?

Check, I mean actually take apart and clean "ALL" mechanical connections from Battery to solinoid and to ground) to include all SOLINOID connections.......Insure batt is good or jump from another vehicle.

I have a 200 Ford f150. The check engine light came on and is solid. I have poor acceleration, and a rough idle. I have replaced the fuel filter and it went away for a short time. Unfortanetly it has started again. Do you have any ideas?

If the check engine light comes on get a OBD2 code reader and it will tell you where the problem is located
I had the same thing as you on a 2002 the reader told me what cylinder it even was
These engines have a coyl on each spark plug called a cop (coil over plug)& sometimes they go which usually entails replacing the coil and plug plus resetting the computer , if you use the reader once you have saved enough to pay for it or rent it to your friends

replace coil #1 ... i generally advise to replace all coils at the same time .. as they tend to breakdown in sequence .. but for now let's replace #1 to make sure this is the fault ?

I have had my truck fixed for the codes the test said I needed. The mechanic had turned the check engine light off before the problem was fixed. After the repair I drove the truck 35-40 miles and the light went back on. Is it possible that the check engine light went back on because the codes were cleared before the repair and the computer recorded those results in the 35-40 mile road test or should we keep scratching our heads to find whatelse the problem could be?

if the codes are deleted .. then the MIL will only come back ON when the fault re-occurs 2/3 times more depending on the fault .. it does not matter when the codes are deleted before or after .. when deleting, the faults are wiped from the computer memory !! could you supply the codes, maybe we can supply a little more information regarding where to look ??

The code is 1309. The code was cleared before i had the missfire fixed and the truck was driven while still in need of repair and after it was fixed I drove it the rest of the 40 miles and the light still came back on. Is it at all possible that the computer recorded this before the repair? I have had the CID censor and synchronizer fixed, the spark plug and wires replaced, and the fuel injector replaced.
If it isn't a coil what else could it possibly be?

It is possible the PCM stored codes prior to the repair being carried out whilst driving vehicle .. take the vehicle to a good autoparts store (autozone etc.) ask them to delete the codes for you .. most do this free .. then drive the vehicle again under normal operating conditions for the computer to recheck the systems ... whilst at the autostore write the codes down just incase they are different codes ?? let me know ...

41) Continuous Memory DTC P1309: Check Variable Reluctance CMP Sensor Output

This fault indicates MISFIRE MONITOR was disabled due to CMP sensor input signal to PCM malfunction. Possible causes for this fault are:
Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor
CKP, ECT & MAF Sensors
Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
Turn ignition and all accessories off. Ensure PCM is connected. Using a DVOM, backprobe and measure A/C voltage between PCM harness connector CMP and PWR GND terminals. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. See Fig. 11 or Fig. 12 . Start engine and vary engine speed. If A/C voltage does not vary more than .1 volt, replace CMP sensor. If A/C voltage varies more than .1 volt, check CMP sensor for correct installation. If CMP sensor is correctly installed, replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. Program PCM. See FLASH VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION BLOCK PROCEDURE

Hey Guys

I have taken care of this truck for last eight years changing oil and having fuel system cleaned twice but now it is misfiring and running rough.

But I have several troubleshooting codes coming up from autozone P0305 , P0401, P1151. it says their is a misfire on cyl 5 and fuelinjector leaking? and egr valve and system fault?

I have all of their reccomendations and I am thinking of changing plugs and and having complete fuel system clean at shop of mass air flow and etc..

What are your reccomendations?

Thank You.

Engine misfiring can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel.
