1993 Ford F-150 no oil pressure

I had no oil pressure, so I put a new oil pump on. The shaft is good tight, pick up tube clean &clear distributor is good. Now I have pressure for about 10 min. And its gone again and motor starts to tap and knock. Please help.

Sounds like engine bearings when things starts getting heat up on the crankshaft the bearing clearance increases therefore dropping the oil pressure-could also be the oil pump pressure relief valve sticking.

Could the oil go to the heads and not come down for a while and the pickup is sucking air

That's if the oil gallieries are clogged-up-Did you actually check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge?
