Hi MR. F150 GUY,

See my profile. I know you are looking for inexpensive advice. Writing an, on post NOVEL is sorta time consuming !

The best way to perform a task like this is to have PRECISE instruction, experienced help, and maybe pictures or diagrams.

I got to this site, with my complicated question, 15 months ago, am recovering from a work injury. IF you RECON this site, they do show many tasks on HOW-TO repair your rig.

This site offers on-line repair manuals, With LACK of the Experienced HELPER part. BUT having great mechanical understanding, advice here and there. I personally, was able to get my "Rear Lawn" mechanics license using MOSTLY, to start: Chilton. Haynes. Factory Service MANUALS.

The good thing about these is :

Yours to keep,

always in your vehicle,

no need to log in to use,

Its SITE will never go down,

range from $20 on up,

Library has them,

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTION,
USUALLY NONE FORGOTTEN OR
LEFT OUT!

GIVES YOU ALL CAUTIONS !

Schedules for maintenence,

TROUBLESHOOTING,

Many Pictures and Diagrams,

Find out much stuff, about your rig you did not know

Really HOPE you take my advice, and aquire one. Library is your least expensive route. Maybe the BOOKMOBILE could show up for future ROADSIDE REPAIR ISSUES !

Love, Turddog

Rear main is located behind the flywheel and dust plate
1. Rear driveshaft
2. Front driveshaft
3. Transfer case
4. Transmission
5. Flywheel
6. Dust plate located between trans and flywheel and engine block

all have to be removed to get to the 14.00 dollar seal
i just changed my 5.8 351 c.I. Cause I ran it too long with a bad rear main seal this takes alot of work and know how and a couple good friends and time.
