Why isn't there sparks in spark plugs? Replaced coil, spark plug wires, control module on disturbiter, roder, and still no sparks. There is power to coil and to module on disturbiter but not to spark plugs, was told timing but timing is on right.

Check for spark directly from the ignition coil with a spark tester. This guide can help us

Please run down these guides and report back.

I got a 1988 ford f-150 with the 4.9 that just died on me. It is getting fuel but I cant get the coil to sprak. Both terminals on the coil are getting juice(white/ light blue wires, and green/yellow wire) but the coil wont spark. I am aware that it is probaly not getting ground. But don't know where to test for that as there are only 2 wires on the coil and both are hot.

Thanks for any help possible.

I am not totally sure, but I am pretty positive that the coil gets its ground from the casing that mounts it on to the block/ frame. It sounds to me that you have a bad coil. Just because its getting power doesn't mean the coil is fully functioning. Electrical components are funny like that. Make sure that the coil is seated tightly. I will check into this more. I still think if you replaced the coil you would be set.

I have a 1988 ford f150. Was stalling for a couple of months. The last time it stalled it wouldn't start again. Replaced the distributor cap, rotor button, ignition control module, and the coil. After I put the coil on it started and drove great for 2 days, then stalled again and now won't start. Could it be a computer problem or do you have any idea what to check.

Has the weather been moist where you live?

Are you plug wires routed properly? You replace the coil with a good quality one or a cheap offbrand? Plug wires on the plugs properly? Too high resistance?

Do all have spark? How bout directly from coil with engine cranking? Get back to me.

Glad to hear that you have fixed your problem. Make sure you used all of the heat transfer gel you have gotten with the module on the back side. And if you ddint get any be sure to buy some and add it or else the module could overheat and burn up.

Electrical problem
1987 Ford F150 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Been having problems starting my 87 f150. Thought at first it was a fuel problem so I changed the inline pump, filter, and relay. Sometimes tapping relay would allow it to start. Now nothing I try seems to work.I checked wiring at both tanks and all seems fine there. I pulled the front plug on drivers side and it smelled strongly of gas so I plugged it back into ignition wire rolled it over and no spark. I used my test light and check harness plug on the coil while still plugged in switch on and both lighted up. Now im lost any help would be greatly appreciated

My pickup runs great when cold, however when it gets hot (operating temperature) if it stalls it wont restart for 10 minutes or so until it has time to cool off. I have replaced the ignition coil and tfi module, several relays (various ones just trying to narrow a few things down). Just by chance I discovered if you disconect the timing sprout it will restart. Any ideas?

Hmm, sounds like it could be a badhall effect sensor.

Its like a pickup coil only thing is ford switched to the hall effects in 87.

Check that first. If it feels like tar it is definetely bad.

Well I have been at work for the past few days but did get your reply. One day at lunch I stopped by the parts store and found out I could get a new distributor for $100, not bad. Comes with the PIP sensor and a new TFI module, so I sprung for that (figured I may as well change it all just in case!). After work last night I came home droped it in and went for a drive. Still doesnt restart when hot. Its a real head scratcher. I bought the truck cheap, as it had this problem when I got it. But I thought I could fix it. That was 2 years ago
