Hello,
Yes, I have the typical "chirping" noise from the engine. I know it can be from the brakes, C.A.M., the drive belt tension and or the serpentine belt. I will have all those checked by a licenced auto care dealer.
My question is, Can I still drive the truck to get it to the dealership when I am ready, Or, am I in danger if I drive it in this condition?
Do you have any advice I need right now on this matter?
Thank you for your time!

PAM:
I can't truly answer that without hearing it. Does the noise change when the engine revs? Also, I want you to try a little test. Open the hood, start the engine, and pour a small amount of water on the serp belt to see if the sound changes. NOTE: Water will fling so protect your eyes and wear old clothes.

Let me know what you find. Honestly, based on your description, it sounds like the belt. It may look good, but it could have a glaze on it, be dry...

Let me know what you find.

Yes, the chirping chirps faster when I press on the gas peddal. I know this because I drove along side a long brick wall, so I could hear the noise bounce off the wall. It chirps once or twice when I start the engine, but mostly when I'm driving or idleing. I will do the water test, the belt is glossy on the non-ribbed side if that gives you more info. I smelled some burning rubber while driving, But I dont know if it was from my engine or the cars in frount of me.
Thanks again.. this is a cool site, I will pass it on to all my friends.

Let me know what you find. Also, the shinny side tells me the belt is dry and glazed. I think that is where the sound is coming from. Let me know what you find when you do the water trick. Also, we would appreciate you telling all your friends and family about the site. Thanks for that.
