2002 Ford Explorer, 89xxx, 4.0L V6

I purchased this vehicle used in Feb 07. At time of purchase the vent selector worked, now when I select vents, nothing comes out; doesn't matter if heating or cooling. How do I fix this? Is it a vacuum or blend door motor issue? Also, I am currently experiencing trouble with GVR valve. Are the two somehow connected? :(

Sorry about the confusion. All of the air blows through the dash/defrost selection, doesn't matter which option you select; everything comes through the defrost. I mistyped it's the EGR valve, not the GVR. Hope this helps.
