2001 Ford Explorer tires

If the tires I have on my explorer now are 235 75 15 and I put 205 75 15 on it what will be the effects and defects

It is a much smaller tire. It will have an affect on the handeling change the speedometer. If it isn't a recommend size, I wouldn't use it.

Whould it effect the odometer milege at all and about the speedometer will it say I'm going faster than I really am

A yes to both. A smaller tire has to spin faster to go the same distance. I can't say how much it will change things, but the smaller you get, the more it will have an affect on the system. Also, you will be losing ground clearance. If that even matters to you.

Honestly, you sound like you are in the same boat as I am. Trying to save a buck any way you can. However, I really recommend staying with the manufacturers recommend tire size.
