The driver side front window stopped going up and down in my ford explorer sport. If you think it is the motor what is the best test for checking this?

First thing to do is to test the motor with a test light. If the motor is getting power when switch is used then motor probably needs replaced. If it is not getting power, remove the switch and test it. Bridge ("jump") the wires on the switch with a single piece of additional wire to see if it will engage the motor. If this will engage the motor then your switch will need replaced.
